shopping guide. Could use some help :)

Post by Sqrrl »

So here's the deal...

My girlfriend does not know about my special liking. She does wear rather small watches, which is better than nothing right? But I would love to see her wearing a watch that...well... fits my needs a little more... :)
Since I want to keep my fetish to myself for now it's not that easy to talk her into getting a new watch without her getting suspicious... So far I at least got a :" if you think I should wear a bigger watch, then go and present me with it" out of her. Well, fair enough! Not least because I actually do myself a favor ;)
And since the next anniversary is just ahead....

Now, here's where you guys come into play. I am not that familiar with the watch market and since I am German I will have a hard time explaining my preferences, but I still hope you can help me out.

First and foremost it should not be too expensive. Let 's say 200€ max.
Generally speaking it should be a mid sized metal watch, not gold.
The colors of the face should be white or maybe even black.
The wristband should be delicate (is this the right word?!)...
I do like the Rolex style Invicta faces, their watches seem to be too big though. Same seems to be true for the Kors watches. If I will find the time I will try to edit to post and include examples of possible watches. So far I have no clue, which watch to get

May I suggest maybe fossil brand. They have some "boyfriend" styles that would work for men & women. Also they have sporty ladies styles.

Not sure I know what you mean by delicate?

If you're refering to the "Daytona" and "Submariner" styles they aren't that big, their Pro Diver (the Sub-model) even comes in a 39mm model which could be perfect.

Hey guys,
thank you for your recommendations, I really appreciate them.

What I mean by delicate:
Many bigger watches seem to look bulky and not that feminine, when their bands consist of just a few solid and bigger elements.
So, what I actually meant to say is that the watch should appear feminine despite it's bigger size. Since I am using my smartphone right now it's impossible to conveniently attach pictures; I hope you get the idea though.

This one would be an example of what I am looking for. I really like this picture. The wristband is "delicate" (still don't know whether this means what I intend to say though ^^).

Maybe you know of some watches alike. Your recommendations are good so far, but I feel there is better ones out there. I know, I m ridiculously picky. But since I will not be able to get my girlfriend to having a whole collection, I better should choose wisely

That one is 37 mm.

If you like something "Daytona-like" only smaller and more feminine here's a suggestion: the Accurist Marina Chronograph. http://www.watchshop.com/ladies-accuris ... 28037.html

It's 31 mm so maybe not as large as you'd want it to be, but more like the best of both worlds. On the link there's even a picture of how it looks on the wrist of a girl.

Good luck.

I like that one a lot. Thanks. That's definitely the right direction

By the way: That's the one she wears right now, in case you were wondering

Which is nice but simply to small with it's 24,5mm

I think Vincent has the right idea with the Fossils, I personally have two of the same exact styles (the 2nd watch with a baby blue face and the 3rd with a blueish greenish face) and I get compliments on both all the time whenever I wear them + they're only about $65-70 dollars right now :D

If shwe has and likes the white faced one that you showed how about getting something to compliment that one - and to wear as a second watch? Since that white one is small then how about a black faced one to go with it to have a 'black & White' presentation? I know a of a couple of females who wear 2 like that and I think they look smashing . .the females and the watches that is :-)

Also . .just a guess . .is she fairly aggressive - perhaps a professional or executive in her job? ...and does she have long and or pronounced eye lashes?

Have you sorted this out yet? If not my suggestion would be a vintage Tag Heuer F1. They are available for around your budget on eBay, are by a quality watchmaker and look very hot on a ladies wrist. I have one and I'm very happy with it, my wife wears it sometimes and because it is a mid-size watch it looks great on either of us!

Couple of examples:

Hey guys,

Thank you so much for your recommendations.

First of all:
Well, sayin that I should consider buying a black faced watch, since she already got one with a bright face does make sense in general. The thing is however: White faces are what I prefer :D . I don´t think she minds the color as long as it´s not too fancy. In fact I doubt that she would continue to wear the old one anyway...

Here is an update:
Our anniversary is getting closer and I have still not been able to decide yet.
Right now I still think I am gonna have a closer look at the Esprit Dolce Vita and the Esprit Starglance. So far these watches seem to be the most....well let´s just say "appealling" ones I have come accross...

Unfortunalety I couldn´t find any pictures of it other than the ones provided by Esprit

By the way: Why is it that (German) watch stores never display the actual name of the watches?

Gonna keep you postet

Hey there

I've finally come to a conclusion. :)
I was inches away from buying the esprit dolce vita. The problem: this watch is too damn elegant. Since my Gf is rather sporty and casual this does not seem to fit. And since I want her to wear it in everyday life, a had to reconsider.

And then I discovered the Fossil ES2681 and I bought it right away.

So far I don't know whether it is the watch of my dreams. Nevertheless I am sitting at work, constantly opening the box to look at it. And to me this seems to be a good sign, isn't it? :)

If requested I might edit the post and add pictures.

Let's just hope she likes it
